Top 3 tips to safe squatting
SQUAT!!!
Squatting is critical and is the foundation for every athletic movement.
You’ve got to have strong legs to be effective in your job (and life in general), but it shouldn’t come at the price of injury!
So here are 3 tips to keep you squatting safely!
1. Form over weight (ego check)
As soon as you feel your form breaking down, rack the weight.
2. Maintain flat back (fancy term: neutral spine)
Lock your torso during set up: by taking and holding a giant breath (through the whole movement), pulling down your rib cage and squeezing you butt.
3. Keep knees pushed out
If your knees start caving in (see #1, weight may be too much), focus on pushing those knees out, which helps keep your pelvis under you and your chest up.
Hope this helps!
